Morning Meeting Topics
Community building and the sharing of ideas is very important in this classroom. The children are asked questions that are often reserved for adults and are given time to share their ideas and opinions. Each morning the class gathers in a morning meeting. The topic of discussion varies a great deal from issues present in the classroom to issue related to a unit of study. The children are given time to think and respond to the issues. These activities not only help explore curriculum materials, but also help develop listening skills, the ability to respond to each other, verbal skills, and perspective taking.
