We Remember the Holocaust
Katie O'Malley

Culminating Activity

The goal of this unit was to focus on critically evaluating the events of the Holocaust through reflective writing. Many of the lessons explored primary source documents and required students to think about the issues. More than six million Jews perished in the Holocaust and almost 10 million human beings did. How could society have let this happened? It is said that history allows us to learn from our mistakes. What is it that my students learned from this small part of history called the Holocaust? To answer my question, each student will be required to do a final project. In the form of a social inquiry, students will choose from a list of several projects to do, and create a short report to share with the class. To accommodate most learning styles, the projects will reflect a wide array of angles and interests. Each project's specific requirements will vary as to the assignment and instructions on the guide sheet. It is in this manner that I plan to evaluate each student's overall learning of the issues and events within the Holocaust.
