ALIKE
AND DIFFERENT

CULMINATING ACTIVITY
In order to provide some sort of closure to the unit I have planned on physical disabilities, I plan to have the students put together an open house where they can share what they have learned with other classes and with their parents. The students will be involved with the planning of this open house, and it will basically entail dividing the room into three large areas: a blind area, a deaf area and a wheel chair area. Within each of these areas the students will be assigned to certain stations where they will practice what they will share with the others ahead of time. Some of the stations I think the students will be interested in sharing are mystery boxes, braille books, shaker cups, sign language alphabet, song in sign language, tape of familiar sounds, class mural, textured artwork, wheelchair, dolls with disabilities, challenges with limited hand movement, and the special inventions for people with disabilities.
