Day Concept Art Activity Music Activity Make-Believe
1 Scarecrows Use scraps such as wallpaper, yarn, buttons, etc. to make a scarecrow. Do scarecrow movements (floppy, blowing in the wind) to scary music from cassette tapes. Everyone work together to make a scarecrow for the classroom.
2 Jack-o-lanterns Paint pumpkin cutout orange, then sponge paint on a face to form a jack-o-lantern. Use rhythm instruments and a JOL and pumpkin. Students play when shown JOL, stop when shown pumpkin. Make a JOL snack. Bake pumpkin cookies and decorate with orange frosting and raisins, etc.
3 Helping Help each other decorate a large pumpkin cutout using various art materials. Help each other create a scary song. Teach students to play on command and record the selection. They have to wait for their turn. Work together to keep "pumpkins" on the parachute. Use orange balloons. Talk about how everyone is needed to keep them from falling.
4 Covered Halloween collage-pumpkin cutouts covered by papers and other items and then covered with clear contact paper. Guess instrument being played (covered with a cloth or sheet). Take a walk around the school grounds to see what is covered.
5 Party Make hats. Dance to scary music. Have a party.
