SIS Remote Access

SIS can be accessed from outside of your office by using specialized software. The software in question is:

  • VPN
  • Remote Desktop

VPN

VPN is an acronym for Virtual Private Networking. This application creates a secured connection to the University Server which will help prevent security breaches. This application can be installed from the CITES web site. Detailed directions are provided by CITES for users.

Remote Desktop

This application is a standard software install with Microsoft Windows. Remote Desktop allows the user to access the computer in his/her office from any computer with internet capabilities. Remote Desktop is critical in access SIS from outside the office because SIS permissions are keyed to your Active Directory log-in information. You will not be able to access SIS without using Remote Desktop.
