Welcome to RECRUIT

RECRUIT is a program for Recruiting, Educating, Certifying, and Retaining Underrepresented Populations In Teaching Science and Mathematics

RECRUIT is funded by the National Science Foundation and housed at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, College of Education, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).

RECRUIT is designed to meet the needs of recent and advanced science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) graduates, and mid-career, scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and industry personnel interested in pursuing careers in secondary science or mathematics teaching.

RECRUIT is a three-year program that provides the opportunity and support to earn an alternative secondary science or mathematics teaching certificate, a Master of Education degree, and two years of actual classroom teaching experience. If you have a Bachelor or advanced degree in a STEM field and are interested in pursuing a career in secondary science or mathematics teaching, RECRUIT might provide you an excellent opportunity to achieve your goals.

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction works closely with the Golden Apple Foundation and partner school districts to provide a quality teacher education program and extensive support for the pogrom participants as they transition into teaching.

To learn more about RECRUIT and possibly apply to join the program, please visit the Students isection or contact us. Please note that there is a limited number of spots in the program. If you are interested in learning more about the rationale, conceptual framework, and philosophy of RECRUIT, and associated assessment and research activities, please visit the Researchers isection.
