Undergraduate Admissions to the College of Education

Undergraduate admission to the College is coordinated by the College Student Academic Affairs Office. However, admission to the College depends upon first meeting admission requirements for the University of Illinois. Once you've decided which of our undergraduate teacher education degrees you want to pursue, you're ready to begin the process of joining us. Before you can begin, you need to know when you can apply to the College and where you should begin the process.

When You Can Join the College

Admission to the College requires junior standing for elementary and early childhood education majors and those minoring in secondary school teaching. Special Education majors may be admitted into the program as sophomores or juniors. Also, remember that if you're pursuing a minor in secondary school teaching, you'll apply for admission first to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Where Should You Start with Your Application?

Depending on your chosen program and your academic year, you will have slightly different admission requirements. Pick from the options below to find out how to get started.
