Distributing Contribute Keys

Contribute Keys are simply small files encrypted with a password. They can be emailed out or kept on a file server. Remember to give out the passwords. At the College of Education we use one password for all keys except the admin key and we keep them on the file server.

For the WF site, the password is wf and the keys are located at:

Step By Step Key Creation

 

1. Start Send Connection Key

2. Determine Connection Settings

I use the current connection and make sure I am connected the same way as the user would be.  Thus I make the mac keys of SMB on a mac and the windows keys connected via the filesystem using a windows machine.

 

If you choose not to use the current connection, ou can type in the protocal and path.

3.  Choose the Contribute Role associated with the key.

4.  Choose a password and where to put the file.

5.  A summary will appear at the end.
