TIMeS Project

The TIMeS project is a collaboration between the College of Education and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and teachers in six public and private schools in Christian, Sangamon, Macon, Vermilion, Edgar, and Douglas counties to improve instruction and student achievement in local school districts. The TIMeS Project provides standards-based professional development opportunities for teachers. These intensive professional development opportunities are designed to support efforts in which educators engage their students with technology-enhanced lesson plans that provide an authentic context for concepts taught within mathematics, science and literacy.

September 15, 2006—3rd-8th grade teachers from our participating schools came to campus to learn how to use digital cameras, scanners and the software programs United Streaming and PhotoStory 3 for Windows. During the 2006-2007 school year, the teachers will complete on-line modules for training on software including KidPix, Inspiration/Kidspiration, Visual Communicator, MovieMaker, Scholastic Keys and Report Writer. They will gather one more time at the end of the grant with the K-2 teachers to share lessons they have developed as a result of their training and participate in focus groups for evaluation of the grant.
