WHAT IS HAPPENING AND WHEN?
Starting on Saturday, December 29, the College of Education's servers will be moved to a new location in the Education Building as part of the larger Campus Network Upgrade Project. While we expect the entire move to take as many as four days, we will make efforts to keep certain key services, such as web, mail and file servers as available as possible. In spite of this, we expect all services to be unavailable for most of the day on Saturday, December 29th.
HOW DOES THIS AFFECT ME OR OTHERS?
1) On Saturday, the 29th, users will not be able to access key network resources administered by the College of Education including those listed below.
* College web site (www.ed.uiuc.edu) (and many others hosted on our web server)
* College online courses on learn.ed, hreonline.ed, and hremoodle.ed.
(CTER's servers are housed at the Armory and will be unaffected.)
* CTE Portal
* College file servers (files.ed, digital.ed)
* College mail server (@ed.uiuc.edu)
(See the following web page for a more complete list of servers: http://www.ed.uiuc.edu/cio/network/servernames.html)
2) On Sunday (December 30) through Tuesday (January 1), we will continue to bring up remaining services. Key services (above) may continue to experience brief, intermittent outages.
WHAT, AT MINIMUM, SHOULD I DO?
If you or your students expect to use any College of Education server-based services during this time, please be aware of the expected interruptions to service and adjust work plans and expectations accordingly.
WHERE TO GET HELP OR INFO?
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at sysadmin@ed.uiuc.edu, contacting us at 244-6053, or stop by User Services in room 1.
