Hardie Dissertation Award Competition

Each year, the Bureau of Educational Research in the College of Education grants several dissertation awards on a competitive basis to graduate students to support the completion of their doctoral dissertations. These awards are funded through the generosity of the alumni and friends of the College. This information will help you to determine if you are eligible and how to apply.

A new group of dissertation awards being funded for the first time in 2008-2009 are the Hardie Strategic Initiatives Dissertation Support awards. Funding for these awards is provided through an endowment from Charles Dunn Hardie. Up to eleven awards will be made annually to support dissertations being prepared in areas related to the College of Education's 2007-2010 new strategic initiatives:

Center for Education in Small Urban Communities
Initiative on STEM Teaching and Learning
Ubiquitous Learning Institute: New Education Ecologies
Forum on the Future of Public Education

Strategic Initiatives Hardie Faculty Fellows Award

The generous support of an endowment from Charles Dunn Hardie has allowed the College of Education to make a new Strategic Initiatives Faculty Fellows awards available to faculty members in support of their research, which seeks to enhance the College's ability to address the four new 'breakthrough' initiatives identified in the 2007-2010 Strategic Plan:

Center for Education in Small Urban Communities
Initiative on STEM Teaching and Learning
Ubiquitous Learning Institute: New Education Ecologies
Forum on the Future of Public Education

Faculty are encouraged to apply for this new award or for the existing Faculty Fellows Awards but cannot apply to both award categories. Please complete the cover sheet attached to the application to indicate which Faculty Fellows Award category is being applied for.
