71 College of Education faculty, teaching assistants and instructors were ranked as excellent or higher by their students in the fall semester of 2001. These rankings are based on Instructor and Course Evaluation (ICES) questionnaire forms maintained by the Division of Measurement and Evaluation, Office of Instructional Resources.

These rankings are released each semester in the "Incomplete List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students." The listing is incomplete because the ICES is not mandatory on campus, nor is it used by all instructors. However, the Division of Measurement and Evaluation reports that over half of eligible instructors did use the ICES evaluation this past fall.

"We're very pleased of course, but not surprised," said Susan Fowler, Dean of the College of Education. "It is an impressive number and it shows that our faculty and instructors really are putting our students first.  The ability of our people to continually produce outstanding research, but to balance that with outstanding teaching is the cornerstone of our great reputation."
