Education Building Network Upgrade, 2007

Rooms affected:

Most of the project will be limited to the basement.  Since the wireless network and our classrooms are also receiving upgrades, many spaces on floors 1-3 will be affected.  For details, please view the list below.

Original Timeline:

(Work was scheduled for July 16 through December, 2007.)

Current Timeline:

• [done] October-November: Remodeled new Data Center (room 63), including installation of chilled water cooling units, electrical infrastructure, conduits.
• [done] Thanksgiving break: Replace network equipment in South CER (Hub C)
• [in progress] December 18-21: Repull Hub A jacks (HA) in South half of building to South CER, Hub C (HC)
• December 29-January 1: Move servers from North CER to new Data Center (room 63)
• January 3-?: Remodel North CER for CITES exclusive use.
• ?: Replace network equipment in North CER (Hub B)
• Spring Break : Repull Hub A (HA) jacks in North half of building to North CER, Hub B (HB)

What to expect:

Expect noise during periods of construction, especially in the morning.
For offices affected, expect 3-4 scheduled visits from various tradespersons to complete the work.
