Study: Community colleges integrating skills standards on wide scale
Career Tech Update (available online to ACTE members)
A high percentage of community colleges are integrating skills standards into their curriculum, especially in areas such as construction, automotive, and health occupations, according to a study authored by Steven Aragon (HRE Associate Professor), Hui-Jeong Woo (Educational Psychology Ph.D. student), and Matthew Marvel (HRE Ph.D. student). Funded by the National Center for Career and Technical Education, the study collected data to determine the extent that skill standards are utilized by community colleges in curriculum development, delivery, and assessment. It found that 75% of colleges use these standards within their career and technical education curricula.
