John Ory

Biography
John C. Ory is the director of the Center for Teaching Excellence and professor in the Department of Human Resource Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his B.A. degree in psychology and English from Augustana College in Rock Island, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in educational psychology from the University of Kansas. Dr. Ory has published approximately 40 articles in the areas of faculty and student assessment and program evaluation. He has coauthored Assessing Faculty Work (1994, with L. Braskamp), Tips for Improving Testing and Grading (1993, with K. Ryan) and Evaluating Teaching Effectiveness (1984, with L. Braskamp and D. Brandenburg).
He has conducted more than one hundred workshops and seminars on faculty evaluation and classroom testing at colleges and universities, K-12 public schools, and corporations. He has also conducted program evaluations for universities and profit/non-profit organizations, including evaluations of the Illinois Institute for Dispute Resolutions, FAA certification of the Boeing 737/757, Motorola Total Quality Improvement Program, and Coopers and Lybrand training program.
