About
The Educational Administration and Leadership Program offers graduate programs that embrace the broad array of administrative and supervisory positions in education. Educational leadership and organizational theory and practice are emphasized in the program. Specialized study provides preparation for educational career positions such as: superintendent, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction or staff and pupil personnel, elementary/secondary principal and assistant principal, building-level deans, department chair, and policy analyst for the state and national governmental bodies. Advanced graduate study emphasizes development of scholarship and research competence, extended knowledge of psychological, historical, and philosophical foundations of education, and study in related academic disciplines.
Applicants who intend to serve in school leadership roles (such as department chairs, principals,superintendents, and district-level administrators) must possess a teaching license and have completed a minimum of one year of full-time PK-12 teaching experience. Applicants who do not meet this requirement must submit a written statement with their application, noting their career plans and describing how a degree in educational administration would support their advancement in their career.
The Educational Administration and Leadership Program offers a variety of graduate degrees including a Master of Education (Ed.M.) with General Administrative Endorsement, Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) with General Administrative Endorsement, Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) with Superintendent Administrative Endorsement, Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with Superintendent Endorsement, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) with Superintendent Endorsement.
