The application for admission must be completed online.
NOTE: * The Educational Organization and Leadership Department has two areas of specialization: Educational Administration and Higher Education. Applicants must type in one of these two areas of specialization when completing the online application.
•The Educational Administration Program serves two different but compatible audiences. The first audience is practitioners who are interested in attaining leadership positions in PK-12 educational settings and individuals who desire educational policy positions. The second audience includes individuals who aspire to academic and research positions in higher education institutions, with specializations in educational leadership and policy.
•The Higher Education Program also serves two different but compatible audiences. The first audience is persons with serious interests in higher education research and teaching. Particularly desirable are persons whose interests tend toward policy and theory. A second audience is practitioners who have needs and interests in higher education administration, whether for two-year or four-year institutions.
In addition to the application, the payment option is also important:Domestic Applicants (Applying to: Summer 2007, Fall 2007, Spring 2008, or Summer 2008) pay $50
Domestic Applicants (Applying to: Fall 2008 or later) pay $60

Payment is to be made electronically with a credit card.
NOTE: If you are already admitted to the Graduate College, please do not re-apply. Take the following steps:
Fill out Graduate Student Petition (select "Re-entry" under REQUEST): Petition Online
Submit completed petition, along with the name of the department in which you most recently have been admitted, and the names of the current department head and your most recent advisor. Do not submit directly to the Graduate College.

Submit all materials to EOL, 333 Education Building, 1310 S. 6th St. MC-708, Champaign, IL 61820, by the admissions deadline. Include all supporting materials below.
* Departmental Personal Information Form (Educational Administration Applicants Only)
In past admissions process, there was a designated form for each degree and/or specialized endorsement. With the modification of the admissions policy, there is now one form for all degree areas. This form is created for ease, as it can be filled out and submitted electronically through the online application at the Graduate College Web site.
* Personal Statement (ALL Applicants)
Note: Do NOT submit a Departmental Personal Information Form if you are applying for the Higher Education program.
* Current Professional Resume (Curriculum Vitae)
Both programs require a current professional resume (curriculum vitae). This is to scope out experience, publications, and other important information. Please have the resume as current as possible. - Please use the space provided by the online application for this document. There is no need to send this via e-mail.
* 3 Letters of Reference (pdf)
Three letters of reference from persons who have direct knowledge of your academic performance and potential for graduate study. Each letter should be accompanied by a completed Letter of Reference form. The letters must be in a sealed envelope with the designated reference's signature overlaying the seal of the envelope. If the recommenders complete this online, no additional copy of the letter is necessary.
* Transcripts
Submit official transcripts from every college/university you have attended, undergrad or graduate, in a sealed envelope, with a certification stamp across the seal. All transcripts must be sent directly to the Educational Organization and Leadership Department (333 Education Building MC-708, 1310 S. Sixth St., University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Champaign, IL 61820). IMPORTANT: Even if you have course work from the University of Illinois, we still need your official transcript mailed to us. Please contact the Office of Admissions and Records if you desire additional information.
* Writing Sample (Doctoral Only)
Applicants to doctoral degree programs are required to complete a writing sample. The writing sample is conducted on the Urbana-Champaign campus. Applicants will be contacted by the department to arrange a convenient time to complete the writing sample. Also can be proctored by the applicant's supervisor at his or her work site if the applicant is a considerable distance away.
* Interviews (Doctoral Only)
Applicants to doctoral degree programs are required to have personal interviews with two faculty members. The interviews are conducted on the Urbana-Champaign campus. Applicants will be contacted by the department to arrange a convenient time to complete the interviews. For applicants who are a distance away from the UIUC campus, a telephone conference call may be an appropriate alternative to the on-campus interview.
* GRE scores (Doctor of Philosophy Degree Only)
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test Scores (Verbal and Quantitative) taken within four years of date of requested admission. The link provides more information on testing locations and exam registration.
* TOEFL Score (International Applicants Only)
Most international applicants must submit an official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score report for an exam taken within 2 years of date of requested admission. The TOEFL requirement may be waived for international applicants who have received a graduate degree from an English speaking university, or who have been enrolled full-time at an English speaking university for two of the last five years. The department requires a minimum TOEFL score of 620 on the paper version of test (pbt); minimum score of 260 on the computer version of test (cbt) and minimum score of 105 on the Internet based test (ibt).
* Declaration and Certification of Finances (pdf) (International Applicants Only)
This form is in the application. It should be downloaded, completed and sent directly to the EOL department.
