- Elisabeth Barnett, a Ph.D. graduate of Higher Ed, received the Dissertation of the Year award given by the Council for the Study of Community Colleges (CSCC). Dissertation title: "Validation Experiences and Persistence among Urban Community College Students"
- Jennifer Bloom, Adjunct Associate Professor of EOL, has been elected the next President of National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
