Web Design and its Applications

Read Michelle Hinn's Alternative Web Design Guide

Skim through the Yale Web Style Guide.

Find an exemplary educational web site (a web site with the goal of helping somebody learn something) and an exemplary personal web site (a web site created by a person to describe him/herself).

Post in WebBoard the names, URLs, short descriptions, and why you think they are exemplary (support your argument based on the readings or other sources).

Look at your ePortfolio, and improve it, based on the examplary sites you and your fellow students found and based on the readings. Post in WebBoard the changes you made and why you made them.

June 25
Critical web evaluation

Look through these tutorials on web evaluation. Use the Web Evaluation Workbench to assist you in evaluating one of these web sites.

Post in WebBoard your evaluation of the web site you selected, and also your reaction to the Web Evaluation Workbench. Did it help you evaluate the web site? Would it help you to teach others to critically evaluate web sites? What could be done to make it a better tool? What other tutorials or other tools can help you teach others to become critical evaluators of the web?

June 26
