Week 3:

The design of highly interactive web learning environments

By June 22

Web Design and its Applications:

Read Nan Goggin's Designing Information for communication.

Read Michelle Hinn's Alternative Web Design Guide

Skim through the Yale Web Style Guide.

Find an exemplary educational web site (a web site with the goal of helping somebody learn something) and an exemplary personal web site (a web site created by a person to describe themselves).

Post in WebBoard the names, URLs, short descriptions, and why you think they are exemplary (support your argument based on the readings or other sources).

Look at your ePortfolio, and improve it, based on the examplary sites you and your fellow CTER4 students found and based on the readings. Post in WebBoard the changes you made and why you made them.

Post the URL for your WebBoard posting in C-Base.

Highly interactive educational uses of the web:

Go through the highly interactive web PowerPoint.

Pick one of the three highly interactive mechanisms described there (Javascript, Java applet, or web-enabled database) and use it in some interesting educational way (or select some other highly interactive mechanism of your choice and use it educationally). Post in WebBoard a description of what you did and why.

Major project web site:

Create a web page or set of pages describing your major project, and post the URL in WebBoard.

Examine at least two other students' major project web sites and respond in WebBoard giving them constructive feedback.
