Purpose of the ECSO ?
- To assist students, alumni, and faculty in their search
for education-related employment;
- To assist faculty and administrators in providing their
students with information regarding educational careers,
and job search protocol and procedures;
- To assist employers in locating qualified applicants
for positions in elementary and secondary schools, community/junior
colleges, colleges and universities, and other educational-related
settings.
To achieve this purpose, the ECSO
offers the following services to all UIUC
students, alumni, and faculty:
- Career guidance and information about education-related
employment, as well as career alternatives for educators,
a weekly updated on-line listing of job vacancies posted by ECSO and employers, a career
information center, and a series of placement seminars,
workshops, Speakers Bureau and Teacher Placement Day.
- ECSO Director who is available to assist individuals
in preparation of and during their job search process.
Call to make an appointment.
- On-campus interviews which are arranged with recruiters
from public and private schools and agencies in Illinois
and other states (including higher education) during both
fall and spring semesters.
In addition to the above, the following services are provided
on a year-by-year basis (September 1 to September 1) to
those individual students, alumni, and faculty registered
with our office. (Registration fee information
may be found by returning to the previous screen and linking
to Setting Up a Placement File).
- Housing of permanent placement files of students
and alumni who have completed at least one course in any
department or college on campus.
- Computer access to job vacancies listed through eRecruiting on the ECSO
web site.
- Computer access to interview schedules, personal job
referral history, and registration for seminars, etc., through eRecruiting
on the ECSO web site.
- Ability to request Placement File to
be sent to prospective employers. (Ten such requests are
included with the fee payment. Additional requests
are billed at $5.00 each).
- Access to letters of recommendation through on-line placement file.
