Course Goals
- Identify your learning goals in this class.
- Maintain a "log" of on-line
experiences during the semester and reflect on your experience.
- Participate in on-line
electronic discussions and projects with the class and others on the network,
complete network writing activities, and explore network resources.
- Learn the structure and process of on-line educational activities
- Explore several network-based instructional activities.
- Propose, organize, and conduct a new network-based instructional activity.
- Write a summary paper which describes your instructional network experiences
and analyzes the value of these activities.
C&I 300CN (SatEx) Assignments
- Jan 17: attend first face-to-face meeting
- "Keep a log" assignment: begin now, noting down on paper each time you get on the computer to do things related to this course, what you did, and any problems you had (to be turned in on May 9th). If everything went smoothly, just make a brief note; if you had problems, elaborate on what they were.
- "Sign in, please!" short bio assignment:

post a short description of yourself in the "Introductions" conference on WebBoard <http://webboard.webtech.uiuc.edu:8080/~150 >
- Jan 24: attend second face-to-face meeting
- "Find interesting educational network projects":
Search the Internet and find two interesting educational network projects.
By Jan 31st, post each as a separate entry in the "Exemplary Network Projects" conference on WebBoard.
- "Find a course resource":
Search the Internet and find an exemplary resource that can be used for learning or teaching. By March 7th,
post a short description of the resource into the "Resources" conference on WebBoard. Include the URL and a brief description of how you think the resource could be used.
- "Join an interesting educational network project":
By Feb 14th, join the project.
By Feb 28, post a description of the project into the "Network Projects We Joined" conference on WebBoard.
- March 7th: attend mid (third) face-to-face meeting
- "Create an educational network project":
- By March 14th, post a draft of your proposal into the "Class Project Proposals" conference on WebBoard.
- By March 21st, give feedback to at least two other classmembers concerning their project proposals (pick two that haven't already had feedback from two people). Enter them as replies to the project proposal postings in WebBoard.
- Once two classmembers have replied, send out your proposal to appropriate audiences.
- Conduct the project
- By March 28th, post a progress report of your project into the "Progress Reports" conference on WebBoard
- By April 4th, read the progress reports of the other class members.
- April 4th: synchronous "chat" meeting. Sign into WebBoard by noon, and enter the "SatEx Chat" conference. Click on the "Chat" button and enter the SatEx Chat room. Each person will report briefly on new progress, on problems, on issues related to their projects.
- By April 18th, post a second progress report of your project into the "Progress Reports" conference on WebBoard.
- By May 9th:
Post the short report in the "Class Project Reports" conference on WebBoard, and then enter your long report as a "Reply" to that posting.
At the end of your project, remember to send a wrap-up message to the participants.
- May 9th: attend final (fourth) face-to-face meeting
- Make an oral report of project
- Turn in your log pages
- Turn in your short report and long report (printed and on disk - either text only or html form)
