A man bought a parrot from a pet store because he was lonely. The
parrot was guaranteed to "repeat every word he heard." After he got
the cage all set up, he noticed that the parrot hadn't said a word even
though he'd been chattting to it all the while. Try as he might, he
couldn't get the parrot to say a word. Bitterly dissappointed and near
tears, he returned the bird to the pet store. He couldn't get his
money back! The shopkeeper hadn't told a lie, either. What's wrong?
