The best thing about this project: Students learn about different areas of the United States from other students of the same age group. Each classroom writes a description of their local geography, weather, school and community as the bear visits their classroom.
The worst thing about this project: No direct communication with other classes or students.
What I would change to improve this project (and why): After the bear visits each class for a two week period, a letter is e-mailed to all classes on the route. I think I would send an e-mail to each location as the bear is sent on, letting the class respond to the new information they received about that area. This way, each class would get some feedback on what the others find interesting about where they live.
