I've been at the University of Illinois since the fall semester of 1987. I received my bachelor's degree in biology in May of '91, and I accepted a teaching position at Parkland College. There, I taught Anatomy and Physiology, a required course in their college of Nursing. After spending a year and a half in Washington D.C. working for an M.D., j.D(doctor/lawyer), I returned to the University of Illinois to pursue a Master's degree in the Teaching of Natural Sciences, and I now stand one semester away from completion of the degree.

Currently, I am also the coordinator for Project SEARCH, a program that matches U of I undergraduates with K-8 science teachers in the Champaign-Urbana area to provide resources and classroom assistance. In these classrooms, we are trying to make science both interesting and fun, making resources provided by the University of Illinois available to grade school teachers. (If you are interested in learning more about Project SEARCH, feel free to contact me at my office - 333-7395 ; or at my office e-mail - tvillafl@bmrl.med.uiuc.edu). I am also a manager at the Top of the Inn, the fine-dining restaurant on the 21st floor of the University Inn (for reservations - 384-7171 - pardon the gratuitous advertisement). Feel free to visit me at either of my work places to discuss educational or scientific issues, or just to eat.
