EXAM POLICY EXAM POLICIES: The time frame for take-home exams is ONE WEEK. Essay exams require that students analyze and integrate ideas from the text, lectures, and their discussion section. Students are graded on their ability to write a well-ordered essay that clearly states a position, responds to all parts of the assigned question, utilizes multiple readings, provides evidence from readings (quotes, definitions, theories, and data on students and schools) and reasoned argument, demonstrates use of all relevant material, and demonstrates college-level writing skills. STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO SEND EXAMS VIA EMAIL. LATE EXAM POLICY An exam not submitted in LECTURE will be counted as a late exam and points will be deducted: Five points will be deducted if the exam is submitted later in the day or before 9 AM the following day. Beginning the following day at 9 AM all late exams will be graded with a grade level deduction (B level starting at 86 points). Exams more than 3 calendar days late will be graded with an additional grade level deduction (C level starting at 76 points). Exams more than 6 calendar days late will be graded with an additional grade level deduction (D level starting at 69 points). No exams are accepted after 7 days of the original due date. Keep in mind that students are not permitted to email exams to the instructor. Students who submit late exams must deliver them IN PERSON to Professor Connell in Room 375 Education. If she is not in her office, take your exam to the EPS DEPARTMENT OFFICE IN ROOM 360 EDUCATION AND REQUEST THAT THE DATE AND TIME BE WRITTEN ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE EXAM as proof of submission. IF YOU HAVE A LEGITIMATE EMERGENCY and miss the exam due date, contact the instructor immediately. Provide documented proof of your emergency. To receive any kind of extension on your exam, you must provide appropriate documentation a doctor’s note for illness, an emergency dean letter for other emergencies, or funeral information for a death in the family) within five days of the missed deadline.
