Teachers make a difference in the lives of their students.      EPS 201/202 seeks to engage students in a critical, integrated, cross-disciplinary analysis of the relationship between school and society. Central questions explored throughout the course are: Who should be educated? What knowledge and values should be taught? Who should control the curriculum and for what purposes? When, where, and how should education be delivered? Why have certain school policies and practices prevailed?

    Urban Academy Video Clip (11-17, shown in lecture).  Urban Academy (more websites information) is a modern model school based on the learning philosophy of John Dewey (Tozer, Chapter 5, 151-155).  What can we learn from the Urban Academy model school in light of current trends in school reform?
