Teachers make a difference in the lives of their students.      EPS 201/202 seeks to engage students in a critical, integrated, cross-disciplinary analysis of the relationship between school and society. Central questions explored throughout the course are: Who should be educated? What knowledge and values should be taught? Who should control the curriculum and for what purposes? When, where, and how should education be delivered? Why have certain school policies and practices prevailed?

Super Teachers are great, but rare, the system has to support all teachers to develop their skills and create learning communities.   For a view of a super teacher, see clips of Stand and Deliver  about calculus teacher Jaime Escalante

EXAMINE the educational philosophy of teacher JAIME ESCALANTE of "Stand and Deliver" fame.  Click here to listen to a 3 minute interview with teacher Jaime Escalante: http://www.thefutureschannel.com/dockets/jaime_escalante/jaime_on_being_a_teacher/index.php
