I found the web page pleasant to look at while at the same time offering color and visual stimulation. The page was concise with the links simple to use. The navigation menu on the sports link was a nice feature as well. There was a lot of information available through the links that was easy to find. The downside is that the information was last updated in 1996. Very little scrolling was necessary.

Prof Levin,
I also found a personal web page that I liked a lot. The URL of this page is http://www.math.uiuc.edu/~gfrancis/. This personal home page belongs to George Francis. He is a math professor at the U of I. He also does a lot of work for NCSA. I thought his home page was good, because it was very simple. It was only one page long, with many links and it was very organized.

Above is an address for a personal web page that I found to be simple as well as really neatly designed. This is something that I think that maybe I could eventually do with my own personal web page. I really enjoyed the home page, first page. I like the black background with all the different colors used for the different sections of the web page and the use of diffferent fonts and symbols used as well. It is eye-catching. It also avoids scrolling down the front page forever by dividing up the web page like this by using links to different sections/topics of the page. It has also a few neat graphics like moving animation and pictures included in the web page. I hope you enjoy this page as well.

Pedro has a very good page I think. Previously it did not have the three animations all going on at once. I still like the page because it is simple yet it contains information that the person felt useful or important. He had done a prior link to all of his classmates pages for a course but I did not find it this time. The page is OK. It was also easy to fit on one page for the most part and quick to load.

I also liked this page as well. http://www.employees.org/~ozyman/carstuff/
This page I like because it is a well laid out page for Chevelle owners like me, and this owner put some time into how this page was laid out and it loaded quickly and gave a good explaination of what the page was and why he has it.

Prof. Levin,
Also, the URL for an exemplary web page is http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~k-allan/index.html. I liked this web page by Kingsley Allen because it is easy to look at, meaning it isn't overcrowded by graphics, personal information, or animation. Everything on the web page is neatly organized, and well thought out. Allen gives the visitor the control over what information is perused. For instance, he gives a lot of information about his vocation, which is mapping of flood plains (something like that). However, if one is more interested in his personal life, one can choose to skip these links. He also has other links that are related to his interests, and he also has a little box with the weather in the area.

Subject: An examplary personal website
Dear Prof. Levin
I found this web site: http://www.students.uiuc.edu/~s-lee65/ for an examplary personal web page.
The structure of this web site is well organized. Main page consists of major selections which seem to be equally important: about himself, family, major, homecountry and religion. Then, each subpage is composed of group of information by levels of hierarchy. Also, each sub page contains links to other pages, thus the readers can go another page easily and know where they are. About the legibility of this web site, main page is pretty visible with appropriate visual hierarchy in the typography and informative image.
However, this web page has some minor weaknesses. First, in terms of the structure of the main page, one selection includes the components about his home country and Mac computers. I think it would be better to devide the selection into two separate selections. The second problem is in the legibility of the links. The link to a church in the main page is marked in Korean. Thus, most users are not able to recognize that it is a link to a church. In addition, some links in subpages are not so vivid because the blue links are located on the grey background.
Thanks.

http://www.ews.uiuc.edu/~venturin/
The first page gives you a whole picture of its content without any scrolling. Also the content on the left side is always there to provide viewers with easy links any time. However, I find the background color, grey, doesn't go well with Blue-colored letters.

This author makes a clear layout to introduce himself, besides, he provides links for his specific interests topics,so audience may have more information about them. So, I think this is a exemplary personal web page.

Hello, Dr. Levin.
An exemplary personal web page I found is Raul Zaritsky's home page(http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/people/raulz/index.html). It does not contain fascinating graphics nor sophisticated moving objects. Rather, it is simple and easy to explore. In other words, its interface is commonly used and well organized one. It always shows you the main menu bar and a title you selected. One more reason I like this site is that its length and its links which are not unnecessarily long. Many other personal web pages have either stressfully many links - I don't think most of the links are useful for the visitors - or have few related links. This web page has a few links, and they are mostly related to his work. Some of them might be used as a resource for educators who are interested in technology education. One thing I don't like in this site is the alignment of each section. Especially, some paragraphs are not vertically aligned. However, this may be a problem related to a web browser. Maybe the alignment will be OK in Netscape.

Subject: Assignment 2: Exemplary personal web page
Hi Prof. Levin,
The exemplary personal web page I selected for the assignment is http://www.students.uiuc.edu/~d-vang/ .
This is one of my favorite personal web pages which I re-visit very often. It seems the page creator is quite considerate of his readers: He offers the visitors frame and non-frame options; the contrast of black background and white/red text makes it easier for the visitors to read the texts . Its linkings lead us to a lot of information resources, including those regarding this university and its units, popular and ethnic cultures, family history, etc. This web page, acting as one of my sources and even being a part of my data by itself, has been very helpful to my ongoing research, which is focusing on new immigrants and their adaptation in education. Of course, the weaknesses are also there. For example, a few links are broken, and the page could be better in font if some other color patterns, rather than just the contrast of black-white/red, are used to alternate with the primary black-white contrasting pattern.

Dear Professor Levin:
at http://www.students.uiuc.edu/~njtaylor/ Nathaniel John Taylor's homepage is REALLY good. I love it since:
1. The layout of the pages is concise. The three frame bars "my art", "biography" and "links" include all the contents of the pages:
2. The graphic design is simple and attracting. It is the reflection of the author's education, interests and tastes of art. Though he is a students in art and design, he didn't use much fancy graphics on his pages;
3. I like his graphic design and drawings in his art gallary. They are so beautiful.
The only thing I don't like much is the "gate" of his homepage. It's a little confusing. At the first glance I think it's a web site of a high-tech company instead a student's homepage.
Thank you.
Sincerely, Bing

Dr. Levin,
I chose two exemplary web pages for this assignment. One is Steve Jobs' of Apple and the other one is Bill Gates' of Microsoft. I think those persons should reflect their great accessibility to lots of valuable resources on their own pages than anyone else.
Interestingly, however, those two web pages are very different regarding the contents, design, and structures. Apple's is text-base and contains only biography and one link to another company, Pixar, where he is Chairman and CEO. Bill Gates' is filled with his philosophy, although there are not so many resources on it. This difference might come from the difference of structures between two companies. I enjoyed both.
For Steve Jobs': http://www.apple.com/pr/bios/jobs.html For Bill Gates': http://www.microsoft.com/billgates/default.htm Regards, Mika Saito

the day. Also, the table in the left is wonderful. He also included some
news channel with the local time if you want to know it. Also if you
visit his home page and click on " click here to let me know you were
here" boten, he will respond you thanking you for visiting his home
page. Also look at the nice little eyes that follow your mouse and much
much more.

Subject: Exemplary Personal Home Pages
Dear Prof Levin
My earlier message bounces back - I am sending the exemplary home page again.
I like this home page because the design is simple but at the same time aesthetically very appealing. It is easy to navigate through the pages as the main menu bar stays on the left side of the page throughout. This makes it easy to move through sections. For each section, there is a separate sub-menu bar at the bottom which scrolls horizontally rather than the usual vertical action. This adds a touch of interest. I also find that the inclusion of features such as guestbook and email link useful as they harness the interactivity capacity of the web. I think these are useful features to have on a personal webpage if the purpose is for the author to communicate with the audience out there in cyberspace.
Here's the link - enjoy it ! http://fargo.itp.tsoa.nyu.edu/~mihai/resume1.html
