Hi, everyone.
Here is my call design. Have I left anything out? Thanks ahead of time
for any suggestions that you might have.
PROJECT: Nogylops AKA Polygon People Exchange
LEVEL: Grade 4
IMPORTANT DATES:
APRIL 11: Deadline for project signup
Instructions will be emailed back to you soon after you enroll. A sample
drawing and description will be included with the instructions.
APRIL 18: Deadline for submitting descriptions and mailing drawings to
partner class
APRIL 25: Deadline for partner class returning original drawings,
redrawn versions, and descriptions
PURPOSE: Students will use their knowledge of polygons to make drawings
and descriptions of their drawings. They will also draw pictures using
written descriptions.
SUBJECTS: Math, Reading Comprehension, Process Writing, Computer Skills, Art
SUMMARY: Each student draws a nogylop on a piece of drawing paper. A
nogylop is a creature made of polygons. Each student also writes a short
description of the nogylop. Each class is paired up with one other class.
The classes then exchange drawings and descriptions. Each student
receives a description and makes a redrawn version of the nogylop. The
original drawings are then handed out and students compare them. After
this, the original drawings , the redrawn versions, and the descriptions
are sent back to the originating class. Participants use email and the
U.S. mail to facilitate the exchange. The descriptions are sent through
email; the drawings through the U.S. mail.
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 10 classes
PROJECT COORDINATOR: JoAnn Rachford
TO REGISTER: Please email me at the address below. Please provide the

I will email more details to each of the first 9 classes who answers my
call, including email address and other information about the partner
class. At that time, a sample drawing and description will be sent to
insure uniformity of size. Also the procedure will suggest that if the
number of students in the class is not the same as the partner class, some
of the students can work in pairs or do more than one drawing.
