- National Information Infrastructure (NII) Education Award:
Sponsored by more than 60 industry, government and community leaders, the National
Information Infrastructure (NII) Awards recognize innovation and excellence in use of the
"Information Highway." From electronic commerce, Intranets and telemedicine to community
networks, educational Web sites and broadband, the NII Awards looks for projects that show the
world the power and potential of networked, interactive communications.
- ThinkQuest:
ThinkQuest¨ is an annual contest for students grade 7-12 to use the Internet as a collaborative,
interactive teaching and learning tool. Awards can total over $1 Million!
- SIG/Tel Online Contest:
Are you and your students involved in an exemplary online project or
activity? If so, begin planning now to enter the SIG/Tel 1996 Classroom
Activity Plan Contest. Since 1991, creative teachers have been recognized
by SIG/Tel for their pioneering use of telecommunication networks to expand
learning opportunities for students at all levels.
- Microsoft Schools on the Web Contest:
This is a contest of skill open to every United States K-12 school that registered or
will register a new or existing school home page (or school Web site) with the
Global Schoolhouse between February 26th and May 17th, 1996. To be eligible to
win, the web page must be designed by the classroom or school that is entering. Web
pages designed by outside consultants, firms, or third parties are not eligible.
