Librarian

I am married and am presently completing my 24th year in the field of education. I have always found comfort within school walls, whether it be at Savanna High School, were I grew up, Western Illinois University where I obtained a BS in Business Ed and a minor in Library Science or my MS at Eastern Illinois University in Instructional Technology.
After student teaching in Beardstown many years ago, I landed my first job in Pittsfield as a junior high librarian. However, Pawnee School District #11 was my home for 23 years. While there I helped develop a K-12 library & taught photography and graphics arts in a lab I designed. My husband, Royce, taught art in the same school system for 25 years. Can you imagine the talk when we began dating! Between the two of us we sponsored the high school yearbook, grade school grade book, classes, National Honor Society, coached football, girls basketball, and chaperoned the senior class trips to Florida.
With the advent of the 5-n-5, Royce became the Jr. High and High School Principal in Morrisonville, IL and I became Springfield High School's librarian. I closed the doors on my photography business and began learning the ins and outs of computers. Little did I know the technology tools I was familiar had been replaced with different decives that allow material to be presented via a computer.
I am an older person learning new tricks. I feel strongly that technology makes the learning process easier for a variety of students. I hope to do what I an to provide an atmosphere where students can develop and increase their self esteem in order to learn how to earn so they can be a productive adult in the twenty-first century.
