DO-IT proposes to collaborate with the University of Washington's cooperative education, disabled student services, and career services programs; the Washington State Division of VR; and representatives of local business and industry to increase the opportunities of college students with disabilities to gain work experiences and skills that will help them meet their ultimate goals of full-time employment. It will recruit college students with disabilities, facilitate the acquisition of adaptive technology and Internet connections to support their academic and employment pursuits; help them to develop self-advocacy and job-search strategies; and facilitate their access to professional role models and internships.
It expects to serve approximately 60 students with disabilities, 200 staff from cooperative education and career service organizations, and 100 potential employers.
