Office of School-University Research Relations (OSURR)

OSURR coordinates the placement of UIUC research projects in schools. All research projects in Champaign, Urbana, and Decatur School Districts must go through this office to comply with specific deadlines. The office also monitors and assists with the placement of research in other schools located in Illinois, other states and countries. The OSURR Director works as a liaison between the researcher and the District, assisting with informed consent, confidentiality, and rules of conduct. The OSURR works with researchers from departments and units throughout UIUC and those from outside the university as well.

The Director serves as liaison between district personnel who have a need for consultation, research or evaluation, and faculty, staff, and graduate students who may provide those services. OSURR also provides information and resources to school districts on research-based practices.

Researchers in schools complete the Research Project Status Report at the end of the semester. This report is shared with the district and others to highlight exemplary projects.

OSURR maintains a record of all school-university research, acknowledges districts' contributions, and seeks to establish and maintain positive collaborative relationships with school districts across the state. In addition our office manages:
