Service Level Definition: File Services
| Description | CIO can provide groups and individuals with server-based file folders. The benefits of server-based file folders include the following:

| Who can use this service? |
User directories and shares are available to any College of Education Faculty or Staff member, or any College of Education Unit or affiliated unit at the discretion of the Associate Dean of Administration and Technology. Students are not eligible unless they have an appointment with the College of Education. Students are encouraged to use CITES' Netfiles service. |
| How does one request this service? |
To submit a request for a new User Directory or File Share, please contact the Technology Lifeline Center (TLC) at 244-6053 between 8am and 5pm , Monday–Friday. To request access privileges for a user to an existing folder, College of Education faculty or staff can fill out an access request form at the following URL: |
| What is expected of me and my unit? |
All users should follow the best practices guidelines:
In addition to the above guidelines, Units will be asked to provide an administrative contact for their respective share. This contact will be able to do the following:

CIO offers consultation to assess your needs and make recommendations. Data stored on the Education file services are:
Problem response: Responses to problems, requests or feedback can be expected within 24 hours. Resolution is dependent upon type of request and our ability to respond to it.

| When will the hosting service be available for use? |
User Directories, Departmental and Project Shares will remain available except during system or other dependency failures or when routine maintenance is required. Routine maintenance, including OS and environment updates and patches will be performed as needed during scheduled maintenance periods: Maintenance periods: Daily 11pm-7am (negotiable) |

How and when will patron be notified of changes or disruptions to this service? How can I determine the status of issues the service? |
Service interruptions and outages information will be available via CIO web site under Service Alerts. When possible, patrons will be notified 24 hours in advance of interruptions as arranged. CIO's Technology Lifeline Center (TLC) at 244-6053 will also be kept aware of any issues with the service. Service changes will be coordinated with unit contacts. |

Consultation to assess file service needs and make recommendations. Setup of folder including appropriate permissions; configuration of client machine for convenient access. Training and Documentation Support
