Greetings
everyone!
Many new and exciting changes are happening in CIO that I wanted to
share with you! We have new hours, new units and new services.
Some important NEW things to note:
Technology Lifeline Center:
Got computer troubles? Need some advice on printing PowerPoint? Want help with Web design? Call or drop by the Technology Lifeline Center (TLC)! Located in room 25, the TLC is the main point of contact for technical support, trouble tickets, consulting and professional development. Please use 244-6053 to place your troubleticket calls, ask some technology advice or drop by room 25 for some consulting expertise on hardware and software. The TLC is open 8:00-5:00 M-F.
Educational Computing and Media:
Need to check out a laptop? A tape recorder? A digital camera? Want some training on the college's media-ready classrooms? Need some advice on how to integrate mobile labs? Call (244-9902) or drop by the Educational Computer and Media office (EC & M). Located in room 31, EC&M staff are responsible for all equipment checkouts ranging from microphones to mobile labs, providing training on various resources and the media-ready classrooms and advising faculty, staff and students on ways to effectively utilize the resources available to them. EC & M is open 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Fridays.
Advance Media Center:
Want to work with digital video? Need some advice on graphic imaging? Want to learn more about different educational media? Call (244-3368) or drop by the Advance Media Center (ACM). Located in room 28, the ACM staff will help faculty, staff and students design, produce, deliver and access media projects related to teaching, learning and research. The ACM is open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
P-16 Outreach:
Want some ideas about working with P-12 classrooms and technology? Need some advice for technology integration with preservice students? Call (265-6433) or drop by our P-16 Outreach office. Located in room 3, staff of the P-16 Outreach office can assist you in the planning, training, application, support and assessment activities required for successful instructional technology implementation. Please call 265-6433 to schedule a consultation with one of the P-16 Outreach staff.
We have streamlined many of the services provided by the Television Studio and Technology Resources, although we did have to say good-bye to some of the services they once provided the college.
I invite you to visit our newly redesigned CIO Web site at: http://www.ed.uiuc.edu/cio to learn more about the changes in CIO and to see how some of CIO old favorites such as CIO's Information Technology Group and the ICL are expanding their efforts to meet the needs of the college!
