About the pdf format:
PDF is short for "Portable Document Format." This is Adobe System's
widely used standard for specifying electronic documents in a way which
allows them to be used across platforms and operating systems while retaining
layout and design details. Recent extensions to the specification have allowed
designers to integrate hypertextual links into the web versions of PDF documents
in a way which mimics standard html formatted web pages. Appropriately used
PDF documents can combine the best of the worlds of print design and web
connectivity.
PDF documents do require special plug-ins or helper applications to view
them properly. Luckily,
the acrobat helper
is only a click away on Adobe's free software pages.
