- Stapler (for teacher sequence chart)
- Story of how dinos turn into fossils
- Children will review what a paleontologist is as well as what this person studies.
- Read and discuss book. Look at pictures of dino fossils (already marked off).
- Explain to children that they are going to decide what order the children need to get in by the story I tell. Have six volunteers come to front of group and begin to read story. Pause after each story caption so children can decide who needs to be in what order.
- Repeat activity so children can all have an opportunity.
- Staple final results on the bulletin board.
- Hand out pictures to children. Tell them they can color and then cut them out and put their pictures in order.
- Hand out second sequence sheet and they can then glue.
- If there is time, the children can come up and tell their story about their sequence.
- Children, through questioning will be able to say the name of the person who studies fossils and what they are.
- The children will be able to put the pictures in order according to the story told about how fossils are formed.
- Children will be able to finish their worksheets on sequencing and tell their story about their dinosaur bones.
