WEEK TWO CENTERS
CENTER ONE:
At this center the students will be looking through books which help them learn sign language. A large variety of picture books will be available which will show them how to make signs for all different kinds of words. The students will practice making the signs for words that interest them. Then they will learn at least one sign really well, which they will teach to the rest of the students.
CENTER TWO:
The students in this center will play a listening game together which is called "What's That Sound?". Each student will have a bingo card which has nine squares with different pictures on them. The students will listen to a tape with sound effects which correspond to the pictures on the cards. When they hear a sound that is on their card, they will cover the correct picture with a bingo chip. When their card is full they are the winner. This center will help the students understand that many things can be identified just by listening closely.
CENTER THREE:
The students will color in a small booklet called 1,2,3, Sign With Me, which has pictures and appropriate hand signals to go along with each picture. After coloring in the booklet, the students will practice reading each page and signing each page.
