Dear Classmates:
My project will focus on a discovery method of why we have time zones in
the United States and where those time zone lines occur.
There is no age requirement for this survey.
I will be asking students through a listerve to answer the question "What
time did the sun rise where you are on April 17th?"  The information is
available in the newspaper,on the radio, in an almanac or by calling a
radio station or reference library.
If those participating want a list of the answers, that will be compiled
and sent back.
In my classroom I will display a large United States map with the states
outlined.  As information comes in we will pinpoint the locations and time
of sunrise.  With this information we will be able to draw in the time zone
lines.

I'm looking forward to your feedback and suggestions regarding this project.
