Subject: Project Proposal
Hi all! Kim Mangrum and I have been working on a joint project and are
getting ready to send out our "call for participation." Please take a few
moments and comment on our proposal. The text below is the initial
information to be posted to several project listservs:

Quotidien! A Celebration of Our Daily Lives
In order to encourage French and English language student's understanding of
our differences and similarities, we are sponsoring a bilingual web site in
French (the official language of the United Nations) and English for
students to describe their typical day. For instance, students may wish to
write about their daily activities with regards to television shows that
they watch, current events which affect their lives, foods that they enjoy,
music that they listen to, etc.
We are looking for participants from either French language-learning (where
English is their native language) or English language-learning (where French
is their native language) K-12 classes around the world. Submissions must be
in both French and English. Submissions should be no longer than one typed
page (2 to 4 paragraphs).
We will accept submissions from March 1st until April 15th. Upon receipt of
your student's articles, we will post them onto a web site that has been
designed for the project and will notify you of the project web site address
so that you and your students can witness the project in progress.
If you are interested in participating, please email Michelle Hinn
(hinn@uiuc.edu) for instructions in the English language or Kimberly Mangrum
(kmangrum@students.uiuc.edu) for instructions in the French language. You
will then receive information on how to submit articles and suggestions for
integrating this project into your class.
This project is being sponsored by the French language classes at Central
High School in Champaign, Illinois and the University of Illinois at
Champaign-Urbana.
