The best thing about this project: I have joined this project in hopes that my students will have the opportunity to have on-line discussions with students from a country such as Senegal, Cambodia, or Namibia with some native French speakers. This will hopefully, correspond with a geography unit I will teach after March 17 when I begin my student teaching.
The worst thing about this project: The worst part of this project is that we vote on the countries from a pre-selected list of 14 countries. Each participant will choose their top 3 choices and the winners may not necessarily be French speaking countries. Likewise, I am unsure about the time of the final discussion which may or may not correspond to my French 3 or French 4 schedules.(I've got my fingers crossed!)
What I would change to improve this project (and why): I would section the participants into groups such as Spanish, French, English etc. speakers and have each section headed by a coordinator that would be responsable for establishing contacts between speakers of the particular language and American students.
