The best thing about this project: The UN web site provides interesting information and activities regarding countries around the world. I chose this project because there may be some relative information that teachers I am working with at Fisher Grade School can use in their global "World's Fair" project. The teachers I am working with are gathering information about various countries around the world and also collaborating with a classroom in their respective countries. They will be conducting various classroom activities and sharing with their global partners in areas such as environment, geography, art, etc. They end result will be a World's Fair in which the Fisher community will be invited to share the students' cultural findings.
The worst thing about this project: Unfortunately, the final Country Focus begins after the Fisher World's Fair - results posted after May 19, whereas, Fisher project ends May 16. Will still be able to use some of the wonderful resources and activities from the UN web pages though.
What I would change to improve this project (and why): Have the Country Focii and Chats take place before the end of the school year for the US. Perhaps not all schools participating will be out for the summer by June 26 and can still join in, but many will probably.
