We do an extensive 14 week unit on oceanography that involves the video series called "Voyage of the Mimi." This project takes the students on a virtual field trip to the Mimi, the ship that takes a whale researching voyage off the coast of Maine. In April, lucky schools in Maine are having MimiFest. They will visit the Mimi, Captain Granville (Peter Marston), and oceanography experts. They encourage schools to send questions that they can ask during MimiFest. This would be great way to make everything come to life for us landlubbers. The unsatifying things are: we can't be there for MimiFest and that we are not doing this unit this year, due to our 2-year cycle.
