This project is a fun and exciting way for students to practice writing and reading comprehension as well as computer skills (word processing, image digitizing, and e-mail). Students in two classes form small groups and design an original monster. Then they describe in detail what their monster looks like and e-mail the description to a cooperating class. The student groups in their partner class attempt to redraw the monster from the description. Finally they exchange pictures to compare the originals to the new ones. The original and redrawn images with the description are published on the World Wide Web in the Mind's Eye Monster Gallery.
