This project involves classrooms all over the North American continent in watching the arrival of spring as it relates to tulips (it also tracks many other natural phenomena). Students plant Emperor Red tulips in the fall and reports when they have planted to Journey North and then the class makes predictions about when they w will emerge. They contact other classes when the information is posted by giving clues as to there location and the other class tries to guess where they are from. Students also make emerging tulip predictions for 10 other locations in the US. In the spring classes email when their tulips come up and answer challenge questions that are posted at the sight. There are many other items of interest for all ages at this sight. I have K-3 doing this now and we love it. Our tulips emerged yesterday (Feb.19th).
