Sample Letter to Resource People
Hi!
Would you be interested in responding to email from jr. high and high school students on your career? I am taking a college course at the University of Illinois entitled "Online Communications in Education." As part of the requirements of the course, I am asked to work in a school setting with students on an educational experience.
The students I will be working with are special education students in the Valmeyer School District. Valmeyer is located in a rural area of southern Illinois, and you may remember the flooding that occurred in the midwest in the summer of 1993, and the town of Valmeyer was completely flooded. The school is still in temporary modular buildings and many of the students are still living in government provided trailers.
The students may email you via Internet between two and five times during the period of March 6 through the 17. I would ask that you check your email every few days during that time period and respond as promptly as you can.
If you are interested in participating, please send me email telling me that you are interested, the account you would wish the students to send email to, and your career or job title. If you have had or have many job titles, you may want to include some that you think might appeal to the students.
This is the first time for this project, and like anything new, there may be some problems, so your patience would be most appreciated. Thanks.
